Read the following poems and answer the questions.  Please do this on a separate piece of paper to be handed in at the beginning of class.

1. Beware do not read this poem pg. 845

What images come to mind when reading the poem? Give at least 2 different examples.
What does the author mean when he says you  "not resist this poem"?
This poem has really interesting spelling of words or sounds, find two examples and explain why the author might use them?
What is the theme?

2. A Voice pg. 680

Why would the author use the word "unrelenting" in the first stanza?
Who is the speaker of the poem?  Provide proof
What happens to the mother at the speech?
How do you relate to this poem?

3. A Road not Taken pg. 290

Describe the rhythm and rhyme of the poem.  Why do you think the author wants to create this?
What is the message the author wants readers to understand?
What is the importance of the title

4. Young pg. 343

Describe the character in the poem.  How does she feel about where she is in her life?
What is the theme of this poem
Is there any evidence of figurative language being used? Give examples and explain
